VISIT OF NORWEGIAN DEPUTY HEAD OF MISSION TO ORAŠJE WITHIN THE PROJECT ''ECONOMICAL EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES''
On the occassion of visit to Orašje by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Anne I. M. Havnør a special programme was organized that was abundant in handicrafts, delicious snacks and pleasant company of the project participants. During the meeting with the president of Posavina Canton government, Mr. Marijan Klaić, Ms. Havnør emphasized the importance of equal representation of both women and men for the economical development and quoted one of the ministers from the former government of Mr. Stoltenberg, the Head of NATO who said that since 1970 women made more profit and increased Norway's BDP than the whole oil sector. She also said that in this project implemented by TPO Foundation, all postulates that advocate Kingdom of Norway advocates are merged and they are: peace, civil society, reconciliation, multiculturalism, and gender equality. The Mayor of Orašje municipality and the president of Posavina Canton government promised future support to the economical empowerment of women that will contribute to the better and more quality development of the entire community.
During the meeting with the project participants the exhibition of the handicrafts and home-made products was set up where the skill, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of these women. Patisserie "Orhideja (Orchid)" and two estates engaged in agriculture and horticulture were visited. The government of Posavina Canton and Royal Norwegian Embassy reported on this visit. This project and the visit were the reminder how promotion of economical independence and entrepreneurship of women are important as well as the gender equality.
